Deny it all you like, but Christmas is coming. In fact, if you listen closely, you can just about hear the Christmas albums defrosting. So, although many of us can’t focus on Christmas quite yet, many of us have already done their Christmas shopping. On that note, here’s just a few reasons to book a stay with us and visit Edinburgh this Christmas and Hogmanay.
Edinburgh is home to several different Christmas markets: including the traditional highland village Christmas market, an ethical Christmas fair and the Real Scottish Christmas fair where traditional Scottish food and beverages as well as traditional crafts and gifts are sold. Visitors will enjoy all the Christmas events that take place in Edinburgh, including an ice-skating rink, a Ferris wheel, the famous Hogmanay celebrations, which is the new-year party that last for four days with concerts, music and events. To find out more please see our Christmas Markets Blog.
From 23 November until 29 December, walking the magical trail of light winding its way through the Royal Botanic Garden. Just a mile long, the trees and landscape are spectacularly lit up and has something for all the family. From the Fire Garden to the Crystal Walk you may even spot Santa busy at work. There will also be a chance for mulled wine or hot chocolate whilst you toast marshmallows. The event is completely outside, so make sure to wrap up warm! Tickets will be available to purchase from their website.
No offence to Glasgow, but there really is no better city in Scotland to be in when the clock strikes 12 on New Year’s Eve. Edinburgh’s Hogmanay street party is the biggest, boldest and most exuberant celebration in the North. This year, Scotland’s favourite indie band Franz Ferdinand is set to headline in Edinburgh for the first time.
10,000 tickets to Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Concert in the Gardens will go on sale on Monday 3 September at 10.00am at edinburghshogmanay.com
We’ve stocked up on mulled wine and made stocking space on the mantelpiece – the Dunstane Houses are now both set for Christmas. Whether you’re looking for a shopping break in Edinburgh’s incredible winter markets; a venue for your company’s end-of-year dinner; a New Year party with a difference; or just somewhere incredible to spend your Christmas, we’ve defenitely got you covered.
An Edinburgh Christmas – As well as two nights’ bed and breakfast and a special luxury welcome gift, you’ll also enjoy a festive afternoon tea and welcome supper on Christmas Eve; champagne breakfast on Christmas Day, followed by a five-course Christmas Day Lunch; and a special Boxing Day breakfast.
Hogmanay the Edinburgh Way– Book a three-night Hogmanay stay at the Dunstane Houses, kicking off with admission to the Torchlight Procession on 30 December. Party in style with a Hogmanay dinner to remember on 31 December and either head out to celebrate in the city or stick around in the Ba’ Bar for entertainment until the early hours – and, of course, champagne at midnight.
On 1 January, join us for another Scottish New Year tradition – steak pie. We will provide a head-clearing brunch to start the day and a steak pie supper to finish it.
Christmas Shopping Break– Book a two-night stay this November or December and, as well as specially reduced rates, we’ll include a champagne-enhanced (and suitably festive) afternoon tea on one day of your stay, a two course meal with festive cocktail in our Ba’ Bar and of course, the full Scottish breakfast each morning.
And, because there’s always room for one more treat in the stocking, we’ll also throw in a £50 Harvey Nichols gift card to spend on anything you fancy – indulgent beauty treatment, an experience in the Chocolate Bar, or just an extra Christmas present to yourself.
Festive Lunches & Dinners– Looking for a Christmas dinner worth its weight in stuffing? Whether it’s a festive lunch with your colleagues or A December dinner with friends and family, the Dunstane Houses are here to host. Whether you want the traditional turkey and trimmings or an equally enticing alternative, we’ve a menu to suit.
Want the hotel to yourself? Both Dunstane House and Hampton House are also available for private hire – either individually or as a pair. Book exclusive use of one or both houses and you’ll have up to 35 bedrooms to spread yourselves around, along with private bar lounges and dedicated staff, and bespoke dining menus at your fingertips – now wouldn’t that be special.
