Spring has finally sprung! The arrival of March not only means lighter nights and longer days, but it also marks the count down to the egg hunts and Easter holidays. Entertaining the kids during the school holidays can be challenging, but thankfully this Easter there are plenty of fun things to do around Edinburgh’s city centre which won’t break the bank.
Between the 12th and 13th of April, Houston House is hosting an Easter-themed family event and with no additional entry cost, you and the kids can enjoy an afternoon of crafts and activities. A treasure hunt around the grounds and egg decorating are amongst the activities you can get involved in at the event.
Eggs aren’t the only thing that will be rolling into town this Easter. The circus is coming to Edinburgh this Spring! A thrilling show for all the family with acrobatic performances, sound and light displays and a motorbike agility show that will have everyone on the edge of their seats. An exhilarating Easter treat to impress kids of all ages.
Be one of the first to meet the new springtime arrivals at Almond Valley Heritage Centre in Livingston. Throughout the day, there will be animal handling sessions, tractor rides, discussion opportunities with the staff and an Easter Egg hunt around the farm. Almond Valley is a little outside the city but an enjoyable and educational visit with a unique opportunity to experience local agriculture.
Has someone got a sweet tooth? Easter is the perfect excuse to indulge in all things sugary. The Sweet Treats Festival celebrates some of Scotland’s well-loved sugary delights from hand-made tablet to artisan cakes and baked goods. The festival caters for most dietary requirements with vegan and gluten-free sweet treats and even doggy delicacies for your four-legged friend.
This April, run away to Edinburgh and The Dunstane Houses for a boutique-hotel break as indulgent and luxurious as the richest of chocolate confections. This two-night Easter escape lets you experience the beauty of Edinburgh in the springtime, with one or two decadent little extras to ensure you go home thoroughly spoiled. Your stay will include an Easter afternoon tea for two and for an extra seasonal treat, we can arrange a private tour of the Secret Herb Garden (where we distil our DunGin), so you can see the gardens in all their springtime glory.
