Visit Scotland for the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Running from the 20th June – 1st July 2018, it is the world’s longest continually-running film festival.
Famous Faces in a Famous City
It seems you can’t go out in Edinburgh these days without casually bumping into Chris Evans in Opal Lounge or Ewan McGregor running up Arthur’s Seat. The filming of T2 Trainspotting and The Avengers: Infinity Wars started a trend of movies being filmed in our city, with more recent glimpses of Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan filming the new Mary Queen of Scots movie.
Edinburgh International Film Festival
Beginning as a festival of documentary films, the Film Festival has become bigger and bigger each year. Attracting A-list stars and premiering hit moves such as Taxi Driver, Alien, Back to the Future and The Hurt Locker. The emphasis of the festival is on innovation, discovering new talent and developing the UK and Scottish film industries. This years festival will be no different, with premieres, post-screening parties, live events and script readings.
Thrillers such as Calibre, staring Scottish actor Jack Lowden and a comedy/musical/horror called Anna and the Apocalypse are among the big films expected this year. Special events, such as JAWS – In Concert at the Festival Theatre will be popular and, billed as ‘the Full Monty in speedos’, Rob Brydon stars as part of the closing night gala. There are even films for kids, such the Incredibles 2 and even more films and events yet to be announced.
