Gin tasting in Edinburgh is a big deal. And to help you separate the botanicals from the fanatics, we’ve put together this helpful guide to gin tasting in Edinburgh.
There are two great gin distilleries in the city, Edinburgh Gin and Pickering’s Gin. Edinburgh Gin Distillery is nestled beneath the stairs at 1a Rutland Place. Having gathered some of the most seductive and exquisite gins the world has ever seen, they are a curious playground for the palate as you disappear down the gin rabbit hole. They offer three tours – the Gin Discovery Tour for the gin novice, the Gin Connoisseurs Tour for the more experienced palate, and the Gin Making Experience for master ginners.
Pickering’s is the first gin distillery to be established in Edinburgh in 150 years. The award winning, hand crafted gin is perfectly distilled at Summerhall Distillery. Next door to The Royal Dick, they offer a spectacularly smooth and flavoursome gin experience with a hint of its orient past. Tours last 45-50 minutes, and with tastings at the different stages of the distilling process, you’re sure to have a gin jolly.
