Here’s just some of what’s on during Hogmanay in Edinburgh.
Something you definitely won’t want to miss is the opportunity to blaze through Edinburgh accompanied by numerous pipers and drummers, fire and fanfare and forge a river of light through the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town. This is a spectacular and unforgettable family friendly event which ends in the historic Holyrood Park.
You must have a ticket to take part in the Torchlight and 50p from every ticket bought goes to OneCity Trust, fighting inequality and exclusion in the City of Edinburgh.

This year’s jigs and reels will be brought to you by three smashing ceilidh bands: Sleekit Beasties, Skyte! and Cool Ceol Ceilidh Band.

If you’re wanting a fresh start to 2020 then why not attend the annual New Year’s Day Loony Dook at South Queensferry. Join hundreds in fancy dress for a march the length of South Queensferry High Street as part of the Dookers’ Parade before launching yourself into the freezing Firth of Forth. Not for you? Spectators are more than welcome to cheer on the Dookers at various vantage points along the route or on the beach.
South Queensferry also has a variety of pubs, cages and restaurants all open on New Years Day and we would definitely recommend attending at least once!
