Experience the best The Dunstane Houses has to offer with our Ultimate Dunstane Night In.
Deny it all you like, but Christmas is coming. In fact, if you listen closely, you can just about hear Michael Bublé defrosting, climbing from his den and getting ready to serenade us with his 2011 Christmas album! So although many of us can’t focus on Christmas yet, at least until after Halloween, many have already done their Christmas shopping. We’ve picked our top three things to do in Edinburgh in December, might get a few Scrooge’s in the spirit…
Edinburgh Christmas Markets
Edinburgh at Christmas is better than walking through your wardrobe and finding Narnia. Honestly. Even if it’s freezing cold (likely) or blows a gale (very likely) or pours with rain (almost a guarantee), the city doesn’t lose its festive feeling. The Edinburgh Christmas 2017 experience opens on Friday 17th November. All the favourites are back, the Forth 1 Big Wheel, Christmas markets in Princes Street Gardens, Santa’s Grotto and Ice Skating to name a few. There are new attractions too, such as Festival favourites, La Clique, with their seasonal show Noël and The Ice Adventure: A Journey Through Frozen Scotland. Something for all ages and interests throughout the city. All leading up to the big Hogmanay celebrations with the incredible Rag’n’Bone Man. You can pre-book tickets for many of the Edinburgh Christmas events on their website.
Christmas at the Botanics
From the 24th November until the 30th December, walking the magical trail of light winding its way through the Royal Botanic Garden. Just a mile long, the trees and landscape are spectacularly lit up and has something for all the family. From the Fire Garden to the Crystal Walk you may even spot Santa busy at work. There will also be a chance for mulled wine or hot chocolate whilst you toast marshmallows. The event is completely outside, so make sure to wrap up warm, and you can book tickets here.
An Edinburgh Christmas
If everything above is giving you the festival feels, and making the stress of cooking Christmas dinner at home seem less and less appealing, why not do Christmas the Dunstane way? Experience the magic of Christmas in Edinburgh, without having to lift a finger. Stay with us for two nights on the 24th and 25th December, and be treated to all the indulgent luxuries we have to offer with a true, traditional Christmas celebration.
Christmas Eve we’ll spoil you with a festive Afternoon Tea and cocktail party before you retire. Too excited for Santa arriving? You’ll have no trouble getting to sleep on Christmas Eve thanks to our luxuriously comfy beds (or possibly thanks to Daniel’s festive cocktails!) and the knowledge of an incredible Scottish breakfast. Christmas Day we’ll make sure there’s Champagne available, Christmas dinner and a special luxury gift from us. Finally, a Boxing Day brunch will send you home happy, relaxed and ready for the New Year. For more details on our Festive package and to book your room, visit our website.
